The Chimes of Big ben

Day two started by realizing HAL was staying on the same floor as us. or perhaps people had just decided to creatively use there throwies.

then it was off to catch Wireless security Flaws which pretty much required that you leave calling it just wireless insecurity

what followed was a great panel by lady ada and Phillip Torrone of make fame called "Citizen Engineer"

retrocomputing was up next whitch turned into quite the bbs reminicing session prompting me to buy Jason Scotts BBS the documentry

Next was the Keynote by Michael Hart of Project Guetenberg fame during which each and every member of the audience received over 17,500 freebies to take home with them (no I shit you not he's just that kind of guy).

Dscf0106-1

this was followed by a little announcement by Emmanuel explaining that our panel had been altered a little by a few men in FBI jackets for more on that follow the links here

the panel "Privacy is dead get over it" was wonderful anyhow during which they all confirmed for me that all information is available to any of us, and i noticed the ceiling changed for a bit

Dscf0112-1

next was "Hackers in Prison" kevin was sick so he couldn't make it but his wife stood in for him and everyone was able to talk directly to eachother. unfortunatly it was about two hours too short and not much new insight or information was gained by yours truly.

Cheebs ran out and grabbed us dinner which would be sushi for her and roy rogers for me. unfortunately the Jolt venders had already left for the day so I had to make do with tea and water followed by the end of "breaking down the web of trust" which seemed to degenerate towards the end.

Dscf0128-1

but all was remedied when Gweeds treated us to a insightful different and at times hilarious panel that ,with the treat of a dessert that contained what may be a controlled substance, didn't just feed our sweet-tooth but pointed us toward converting our kitchen into a hacklab and topped it off with a heaping dollop of kickass chem. and chefs knowledge.

(we could only watch as the volunteer pictured learning to brulee's brulee engulfed the table in flames a few times)

I ended up feeling good about ducking out for a bit and catching only the tail end of "Virtual Private Servers and Open source PBX" because by the time i got there it had about six speakers five of whitch seemed to be shouting from the audience instead of using the mikes and was concluded in my opinion sadly and ubruptly. sorry Skram better luck next time.

Dscf0136-1

the last panel of the day was to be "The new Engineers of Graffiti" and while it was cool to see the guys and hear about their projects again I wished that they had had something new to me. Still their ideas are awesome and they bring so much to the table that the shouldn't be overlooked good luck fighting the squid guys!

Dscf0138-1

Finally Cheebs headed back to the room whilst i stuck around and a bunch of the guys from the 2600 crew showed up for the unfinished rough cut preview of Urchin the movie in which Emanuel makes his acting debut as a thug who gets killed by an electrified fork.
